This session highlighted GP Mobility’s commitment to continuous adaptation, breaking away from old success patterns, and building upon strong foundations to ensure long-term sustainable growth. Legacy to the Future: Key Speakers Mr. Bundit Leelertpan, Managing Director of Twin Lotus Co., Ltd. What Is Sustainability in Business? Sustainability isn’t about permanence. It’s about a business’s ability to reinvent itself continuously. It’s the skill to find new S-curves while preserving its original identity and values. The 4 Eras of Growth: Lessons from GP Mobility’s Journey 1. The Dream Era: Founding and Early Days Founded by Mr. Kaveesil’s parents, the business began as a small retail auto parts store, eventually becoming an Isuzu dealer. This stage focused on core strengths, building trust, and leveraging unique advantages. As his parents aged and competitors passed businesses to their successors, Mr. Kaveesil returned home to help, leaving behind his architectural path and pursuing an MBA to prepare for his role. 2. The Employee Era: Working with His Father Despite dreams of being a hero, Mr. Kaveesil started humbly as an employee. He introduced ERP systems, hired programmers, and gradually earned his parents’ trust. He built credibility using the 3Cs principle: Care: Empathy for his parents Character: Understanding their personalities Competence: Proving himself through performance He also gained respect from long-time employees by listening and problem-solving collaboratively. 3. The Eagle Era: Spreading Wings GP Mobility experienced exponential growth. They moved to a new HQ, expanded warehouses, and diversified from one brand to over 30 brands (OEM and aftermarket). Key strategies: Low Resource, High Impact Quick wins with strong results Lessons learned: Benchmark the best in the market Attract top talent with fresh knowledge and mindset Stay grounded: “When we grow fast, remember we’re not that superior. When we struggle, others aren’t that much better either.” 4. The CEO Era: Serving Stakeholders With public company status, GP Mobility entered a new phase. The CEO’s role transformed into system-building, team empowerment, and long-term strategic alignment: Strong internal control systems SAP integration Reputable auditors Full department structure and board governance Focus on Quality of Income, not just top-line revenue Drive innovation while optimizing costs From doing everything himself to managing through systems, Mr. Kaveesil emphasized the evolving role of the CEO in setting direction, unifying teams, working through department heads and committees, and maintaining personal balance. Conclusion: The GP Mobility story is a testament that “A sustainable business is not the one that grows the fastest, but the one that never stops growing.”
