GP Autoparts opens its doors for SME entrepreneurs to visit (Online) On August 28, 2021, GP Autoparts Co., Ltd., as the recipient of the National SME Excellence Award in 2019, hosted an online experience-sharing session led by Mr. Kawitsin Sirimaneetham, Managing Director. The session, attended by over 100 SME entrepreneurs from various industries, was organized by the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB). The purpose of the session was to allow exemplary SMEs, which have successfully developed efficient management practices, to share their knowledge, views, and experiences. This exchange aimed to help other SMEs improve their business operations and management strategies. The event not only featured a presentation and company tour but also provided an opportunity for attendees to engage in Q&A sessions to discuss deeper insights into organizational management.

History and the Beginning of GP Autoparts On September 7, 1981, GP Autoparts commenced its operations in a single commercial unit, initially focusing on selling genuine Isuzu parts. The company was founded based on the recognition of a problem faced by vehicle owners who were choosing substandard aftermarket parts. These inferior parts not only had a shorter lifespan than expected but also risked damaging other vehicle components, potentially compromising the safety of drivers. Mr. Wiboon Sirimanee-tham, a former executive in the parts department of Tri-Petch Isuzu Sales Co., Ltd. (1965-1981), decided to establish a parts center dedicated exclusively to selling genuine parts to provide customers with confidence in the quality and safety of their vehicles. This decision led to the establishment of “G.P.,” which stands for “Genuine Parts.”

Auto Parts Co., Ltd., a leading automotive parts wholesaler in Thailand, participated in the signing ceremony as the authorized distributor of ACDelco products and an authorized distributor of genuine Chevrolet parts for the year 2021. Mr. Kawisinth Sirimanee-tham, Managing Director of G.P. Auto Parts Co., Ltd., represented the company during the meeting and the signing ceremony.

Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) has ceased the distribution of Chevrolet vehicles in Thailand. In the case where Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) sent a letter to the media stating that Chevrolet will cease all vehicle sales within 2020 and has closed the deal to sell GM’s car manufacturing plant in Rayong Province to Great Wall Motors — this stems from General Motors (GM)’s strategy adjustment to downsize the company, cutting off all non-revenue-generating sectors. It is expected that operations will remain only in the U.S. domestic market, South America, China, and South Korea, as these markets still generate decent revenue. If we look at the timeline, it is evident that GM has been facing financial problems for quite some time and has been downsizing the organization for several years. In terms of maintenance services, G.P. Autoparts has inventory in stock, including components, spare parts, and various chemicals. The company can also order specific spare parts and body parts directly from GM in Thailand to support the maintenance and continued use of more than five Chevrolet models for at least the next 10 years.
